Call forwarding
Everyone decides where their calls go when they cannot answer: all calls, the ones they miss, depending on their status, or during an absence scheduled in advance. To their voicemail, colleagues, an external number or a call plan. Forwarding is set in “My forwarding”, without going through the administrator, and only applies to personal numbers: group numbers ring as planned.
How it works
Open “My forwarding” in your settings
All calls: your extensions no longer ring, the call goes straight to the chosen destination
No answer: your extensions ring first, from 5 to 120 seconds, then the call is forwarded
Busy or unreachable: you are already on a call, or none of your extensions is connected
Depending on your status: Do not disturb, Away or Focus forward the call without ringing
Scheduled absence: a start date and an end date, for a holiday or a business trip; forwarding turns on and off by itself, and takes priority over all other rules
Destinations: your voicemail, colleagues who ring together, an external number or a call plan
Use cases
- Salesperson at a meeting: when nobody answers at the office, the call rings on their mobile.
- A day off: the Away status sends calls to the colleagues covering.
- Trade show: three days of absence scheduled in advance forward calls to the mobile, with nothing to remember on the morning of departure.
- Important meeting: in Focus, calls go to voicemail, with a personal greeting.
- Desk phone and softphone for the same person: if both are busy, the call goes to voicemail instead of a busy tone.
- Team lead: their unanswered calls ring on two colleagues, the first to pick up takes the call.
- Occasional remote work: all calls forwarded to an external number for the day.
Benefits
- Everyone sets their own forwarding, without asking the administrator.
- Absences are scheduled in advance and end by themselves: no forwarding left on after coming back.
- Calls from outside are forwarded just like calls from colleagues.
- Group numbers are never diverted: personal forwarding never takes calls away from a team.
- Several colleagues ring at once: the first to pick up takes the call.
- Forwarding to an external number follows the extension's call restrictions: only allowed countries are offered.
- A standard or personal greeting before voicemail.
Examples
- A field technician forwards unanswered calls to their mobile after 15 seconds: a customer dialling their direct number reaches them on the road.
- Before going on holiday, someone from accounting schedules a two-week absence: their calls go to two colleagues from the same department, and forwarding stops by itself when they return.
- In Do not disturb, the management's calls go through the reception call plan, which directs the caller.
