Outgoing call restrictions

Decide, extension by extension, what can be called outside the company: colleagues only, the home country only, no premium-rate numbers, or everything except certain countries. A list of blocked countries applies to the whole company. It prevents the surprise bill from a shared phone, and fraudulent international calls when a phone is hacked.

How it works

  1. Choose the company's country: its numbers are national calls

  2. Block, for the whole company, the countries nobody should call

  3. Set each extension: external calls, international and premium-rate numbers

  4. Add, if needed, blocked countries specific to one extension

  5. A refused call never reaches the carrier: the caller hears an announcement, and the call history marks it “Call not allowed”

Use cases

  • Reception or meeting-room phone: colleagues and national numbers, nothing more.
  • An intern's or temp's extension: no international, no premium-rate numbers.
  • A company with no customers abroad: the destinations most targeted by fraud are blocked for everyone.
  • Export team: international stays open, except a few countries nobody needs to call.
  • A company outside France: choose the company's country, and France becomes a country like any other.
  • Intercom or door phone: internal calls only.

Benefits

  • Emergency numbers always go through, whatever the setting.
  • Premium-rate numbers are recognised whatever the country.
  • One list for the whole company, and exceptions extension by extension.
  • The refusal is clear: an announcement for the caller, a record in the call history.
  • The company's country is a setting: the rules work in France and everywhere else.

Examples

  • A self-service lobby phone: external calls off, it only calls colleagues, and 112 stays reachable.
  • After a fraud attempt towards West African numbers, the administrator blocks those countries for the whole company in a minute.
  • A Belgian subsidiary picks Belgium as its country: its 02 numbers are national, and it can block France if it wishes.
